Some cool cat over in Engadget’s comments claims to have gotten a bit of hands on time with the totally not-yet-announced Droid 2, and was kind enough to bring back a pic to back up their story.
The pic only shows the keyboard — but if it’s real, what a difference. They’ve dropped the mostly-useless D-Pad to increase the size of each key, while also bumping up the depth of the keys — which, given that the Droid 1’s keyboard was almost perfectly flat, is a massive upgrade.

Lenovo has already staked their claim in the Android smartphone market, but up until now had been working with other operating systems for a few of their upcoming smartbooks and tablets. The Skylight smartbook was originally shown off using a mostly complete version of a custom Linux build, while the U1 Hybrid was a bit more intersting. The detachable slate portion of the U1 would operate on the lighter-weight Linux, while it would run on Windows 7 when connected to its physical keyboard base to become a smartbook.

That has all changed, as Lenovo is opting to drop its own version of Linux in favor of Android. The Skylight will be delayed and likely make the move to Android, but the fate of the U1 is less clear. In the demos of the device at CES, Lenovo’s Linux would directly interact with Windows 7, so that when the slate was docked back in the keyboard base the same webpage would automatically load through Internet Explorer. Whether or not this type of integration could be achieved or if the dual-OS concept will be dropped altogether remains to be seen.

Skype is currently only available on Android with Verizon, but it looks like Skype is going to be coming to more Android devices, according to one of our favourite gadgets sites.
Skype will be launching a version of Skype for Android that will be available for all Android devices, and will include video calling, and will be available to download from the Android Marketplace.

Skype envisions a world where video plays a larger role in the way we communicate. The next generation innovation involving video calling will not be bound to the computer. Were seeing a proliferation of video calling shared between all kinds of connected devices. Its on computers (today 1/3 of all calls on Skype happen via video), televisions (Skype bringing video calls to living rooms via Panasonic, Samsung & LG partnership), and it will eventually be coming to mobile devices too. Were betting big on video, and we intend to set the bar on mobile video calling, and its something were going to do this year.
We will be bringing a direct to consumer app to the Android marketplace later this year. This application will be available for all consumers globally to download regardless of carriers. (i.e. similar to how we offer the iPhone app today)
Brianna Reynaud, Skype PR
There are no details as yet when this new Skype for Android application will be available, as soon as we get some more details we will let you guys know.
